Cheshire Ethiopia celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).
Cheshire Ethiopia has celebrated IDPD with different activities at its Menagesha Rehabilitation Center. The event was organized in collaboration with Lemi Gari; a community based organization in Holeta town.
Speaking at the event, Gebremedhin Bekele, Executive Director of Cheshire Ethiopia, said as inclusiveness is one major aspect of Cheshire Ethiopia; pioneering achievements were made in the organization. He has also called on the children to hope for their bright future ahead.
Endale Sahlu, executive director of Lemi Gari said that his center anticipates working with Cheshire Ethiopia on activities like planting trees and Paralympics as part of their community based strategies.
Staffs and children from Cheshire Ethiopia and Lemi Gari attended the celebration. Children who participated in wheelchair and crutch race, spelling bee competition, rope pulling games were awarded at the end of the event.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is promoted by the United Nations since 1992. The theme for this year’s IDPD is “Empowering persons with disabilities and insuring exclusiveness and equality.”
